A few years ago, untrustworthy motorcycles with high prices and lackluster numbers dominated the electric two-wheeler market. But with each day, capable e-motorcycles are slowly taking the stage. A fitting example of this comes from Barcelona-based Leonart Motors. Though known for its imported Chinese 125cc offerings, the bikemaker has forayed into the EV space with the new Rigger electric motorcycle, which promises a delightful blend of range, performance, and features–all at an affordable price tag.

The Leonart Rigger Electric Motorcycle Has A Likable Design

As a whole, the Rigger has scrambler written all over it

If we were to define the Rigger’s design in one word, we’d pick ‘likable’. It flaunts a simple, no-frills fascia, complete with a round LED headlight. The mid-section keeps the simplicity flowing, courtesy of the slim faux fuel tank and an almost-flat one-piece saddle. These bits, coupled with the dual-purpose rubber and slender tail, create a scrambler-like aesthetic most of you will appreciate.

Once aboard, the Rigger flaunts a digital instrument cluster, push button start/stop, adjustable levers, and a small storage space in the middle for your knick-knacks. There’s also a USB charging port to make your life easier on the go.

The Leonart Rigger Electric Motorcycle Promises A 93-Mile Range

A single-sided swingarm is an oddity in this space, yet the Rigger has it

Under the skin, the electric motorcycle is built around a trellis chassis that suspends on upside-down forks and monoshock. This pairs up with 18/17-inch alloy wheels (F/R), both ends clamped by petal rotors. Another noteworthy chassis element is the single-sided swingarm–an oddity in the affordable motorcycle space. Besides this, you also get an accessible 800 mm seat height.

As for performance, Leonart has equipped the Rigger with a seven-kilowatt motor (peak) and a 4.32 kWh battery pack. Together, these will keep you going for 150 km (93 miles), provided you’re at city speeds (50kmph/31mph). Pick up the pace to 43mph, the range drops to 62 miles, and if you cruise at 62mph, the Rigger will need to charge in 43 miles. Be prepared to stop for six hours at this point, since there’s no fast charging. These are all claimed numbers, though.

Finally, Leonart has priced the Rigger at an introductory price of just €‎5,499 (~$5,815) which will increase to €‎5,999 later. At this price, the motorcycle undercuts the American-built Land Moto District Scrambler and should be a viable option if it sets foot here. We say ‘if’ because Leonart hasn’t shed on its expansion plans yet, so the Rigger’s American launch looks grim for now. Similarly, the motorcycle's expected delivery date is unclear too.
