One of the most iconic American sports cars to ever hit the roads in the northwestern hemisphere is arguably the Chevrolet Corvette. Throughout its well-known past, the history of the 'Vette shows that it has been on top of the sports car world for over 70 years. 1953 was when the first classic American sports car was offered up for sale to the public. Since then, improvements have been made that have set the car on a completely different playing field.

But times change, and the imminent shift from internal combustion engines to electric and hybrids has seriously changed how carmakers approach new designs. Most vehicles that used to be common on the streets are being swapped out for SUVs that can be used on the track or road to race, as primary long-distance travel vehicles, or as daily drivers that can do just about anything. These high-end SUVs are also starting to take over the off-road world with engines and drivetrains that can push the limits in any terrain. For most American sports and performance car lovers, the idea of a Corvette SUV is a little too far to envision. But, much like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the Porshe Cayenne, there will soon be a Corvette disguised as an SUV. The exact details will come out within the next couple of years because it is not scheduled to hit the streets until the 2025 model year. For now, let's take a look at everything we know so far about the 2025 Chevy Corvette SUV so we can all follow along as this new crossover model comes out on the market.

For several years now, the majority of carmakers around the world have started offering a crossover version to complement the rest of the lineup because the trending demands of the public have been shifting in that direction. Many of the companies balked at making such a move at first, such as Porsche, which had always been offering exceptional sports cars, and Ferrari and Lamborghini, which had been known for their fast, powerful supercars, but they have all slowly made a move towards creating an SUV model.

At first, the companies had no idea how well they would sell, but they knew from watching their main rivals that it was a move that had to be made. The Chevy brand followed these lines years ago to keep its SUVs competitive. Still, the Corvette line has continued to stay true to its form until now. The 'Vette lineup will soon include two new additions to the two-door sports car; the four-door sedan and the Corvette SUV.

Since the rest of the industry has chosen to go with crossovers that are still an SUV but smaller and more nimble than the ones of the past, it is a good bet to say that the Corvette SUV will also be a smaller crossover. That is not a guarantee, though, because the Corvette line has always followed its own plan, so time will tell once the company is ready to reveal the actual design that will be used.

The Corvette SUV Will Be Made With Performance In Mind

Is the upcoming Corvette aggressive enough to hold your attention?

It can be expected that the Corvette SUV suggested to come out for the 2025 middle of the year will continue along the lines of leaning more towards performance than economy. Chevrolet has announced that they will build a hybrid Corvette for the 2024 model year, which will most assuredly be followed by the SUV.

Corvette may be making some serious changes to the lineup of 'Vettes, but there is no reason to believe that the new SUV will not have the same engine, motor, and drivetrain system that the sports car will have. So, considering that, taking a deep dive into the new 2024 Corvette can give a reasonably accurate estimate of what the more roomy SUV will be like. If everything goes true to form, the Chevrolet SUV can be expected to have a combination of the LT2 V8 that produces 495 horsepower and electric-charged motors that can add another 160 horsepower. For those that hate doing math, that is a total of 655 horsepower overall.

An SUV version may not be set up precisely the same as the sports car variation, but the concept behind the new 'Vette SUV will be close to the same. The New Hybrid Corvette for 2024 is only set up to have one electric motor on the front axle, which turns the car into an all-wheel drive monster designed for performance.

The world is continuing to move into the future, farther into the era of technology and convenience. Luxury models such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz are expected to have the best technology on the market to ensure that their vehicles are truly the top dogs in the industry. That is also the case for Corvette because their owners have always considered their Corvettes to be luxury sports cars, and they demand the best that can be offered.

That is why, since the new 2024 Corvette will be loaded with tech, it can also be expected the following year when the Corvette SUV comes out to play. The standard heads-up display will help keep the drivers' attention on the road, and the Performance Data Recorder will keep track of every move made. This recorder will explain what was done right and wrong and give ideas on becoming a better driver.

The infotainment center will also be high on tech, allowing both Apple and Android mobile devices the option to hook up to the system within the car. The Sport coupe has a 14-speaker Bose sound system, but since the SUV will have more room inside, it can be expected to get more speakers, which means more sound. The command center directly in front of the driver will give numerous amounts of performance data and information on the battery and vehicle. By the time all is said and done, the Corvette sub-brand may become the leading luxury brand for GM, along with being the premier sports car for Chevy. But only time will tell, so we all will have to sit back and wait for the company unveiling of the Chevrolet Corvette SUV.
