The Equinox isn’t going to impress everybody, but it’s definitely up a buyer’s alley whose idea of a vehicle is limited to comfortable and value. And, that’s the reason, the Equinox is one of the best-selling compact SUVs in the U.S. The SUV packs a tiny 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit under the hood that generates 175 horsepower with a FWD or AWD setup. Understandably, the performance is just going to be okay as long as the driver doesn’t decide to go against the wind. That said, the sluggish performance correlates to a better fuel economy and the Equinox makes up for it with decent handling. The Equinox returns an EPA-estimated 28 mpg. Undoubtedly an often overlooked nice three-row SUV, however, given competition from models such as Kia Telluride and Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Traverse is going to feel a little outdated. 4 2023 Chevrolet Blazer: $35,100

1 2023 Chevrolet Suburban: $56,900

2023 Chevrolet Suburban
Chevrolet
Front/side profile of the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban

The legendary American family SUV, the Suburban is all about mega size. The giant SUV is available with three different engine options: a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8, a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8, and a 277-horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six, with a max tow-rating of 8,300 pounds. Given its massive size and proportions, the Suburban is spacious and comfy. However, this trait of the Suburban is also its biggest disadvantage.

Due to its massive size, the Suburban won't be as easy to live with, be it getting through the city, or parking, all of which will feel like a herculean task. A vehicle of this size is bound to be fuel-thirsty, but the Chevrolet makes a tiny bit of difference in that regard with its Dynamic Fuel Management technology. Again, the difference won't be much. So unless you need the extra space, you're better off with a Tahoe instead.
