We’ve seen a lot of close drag races on Carwow’s YouTube channel. Most of the time, it’s evenly matched cars that have beaten their rivals by just the nose. This time, however, the folks raced two vehicles that belong to the ends of the spectrum. One is the Hummer H1, and the other is the Suzuki Jimny. The former is heavy and powerful, whereas the latter is light and underpowered by some standards. Do you think Hummer will be able to beat the Jimny, or will it succumb to its own weight?

The Hummer H1 Weighs Over Three Times More Than The Jimny

Let’s put out the specs first – The Hummer H1 is packed with a 6.5-liter, V-8, turbodiesel engine that makes 197 ponies and 430 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to all the wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox.

The Suzuki Jimny, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that makes 101 ponies and 96 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. It also comes with a low range mode for the four-wheel-drive system.

Weight-wise, the Jimny weighs just 2,200 pounds, whereas the Hummer H1 weighs 7,200 pounds.

The second test was a rolling race from 30 mph. Being a manual, the Jimny was slot into the third gear for this race. As expected, the Jimny won this one, too. The final round was a braking test from 50 mph, and the Hummer came to a complete halt in a shorter distance than the Jimny.

Conclusion

The Jimny won overall with a 2-1 score. This was an apples-to-oranges kind of comparison, but fun nonetheless. We’ll wait for a Jimny versus Hummer EV test once the latter is launched. Even though it will still be a big, beefy vehicle, the electric Hummer will be way quicker than the Jimny.
