The Suzuki GSX-R750 is the only true middleweight superbike on sale today. It has survived the test of time, and the Hamamatsu giant still sells the motorcycle in a few markets, even though all its contemporaries - Honda, Kawasaki, Ducati - have pulled out of this once-celebrated 700-750cc class. The Gixxer isn’t up-to-date in any way, however, and hasn’t been updated in nearly twelve years. Yet, it still has fans around the world and keeps a faint hope alive for a new, modernized GSX-R750. How would it look like, you ask? Well, here’s a render to help you paint a picture.

Popular designer Kar Lee is usually spot-on with his creations, and this render (swipe to the third slide) is no exception. The Gixxer takes inspiration from the previous generation GSX-R750, evident from the wide projector-equipped headlight. However, all other parts are thoroughly modern to create a curvy, familiar, yet sporty motorcycle. It’s surely not edgy enough compared to the angry, sleek design we’re treated to nowadays, but it seems in line with Suzuki’s regular superbike designs.
Kar Lee has also infused some stellar details. For instance, a closer look reveals sleek side-mounted air intakes while the tail flaunts an under-seat exhaust. Another notable detail is the gullwing swingarm, something we rarely see on Suzukis. Speaking of which, Suzuki has always stuck with side exhausts, so even the under-seat exhaust seems improbable.
As impressive as this, the designer has gone one step further to visualize a modern iteration of the iconic GSX-R750 SRAD sold in the 1990s. It looks even better than the aforementioned Gixxer 750, thanks to its unmistakable SRAD reminiscence and flowing design. However, the details aren’t as exquisite here, but if anything, it proves simple goes a long way.
Will Suzuki Resurrect The GSX-R750?
Sadly, the chances are rather slim. We can only expect or hope for a middleweight GSX-R750 once the updated Gixxer 1000 is out, and as you all know, Suzuki currently has no update on the latter. Plus, even if Suzuki plans to build a faired middleweight sportbike, chances are it’ll be powered by Suzuki’s new 775cc, twin-cylinder engine rather than an inline-four mill. Though this will bum out enthusiasts, it makes total sense, as the new motorcycle will compete in the hot mid-capacity segment against the Aprilia RS 660 and Yamaha YZF-R7.
