The market of EVs is booming. With every few months that pass by we seem to be getting more and more options. This can make buying an electric vehicle more difficult and time-consuming. Obviously, there isn’t one vehicle that will work perfectly for everyone; however, we believe there are some that are definitely worth a look. One of the most impressive and appealing EVs to be recently released is the Rivian R1S. This SUV shares most of its underpinnings with the Rivian R1T and its features, abilities, and uniqueness present a very appealing product, and here's why it is the best electric SUV currently in the market.

10 The R1S Is Insanely Powerful And Quick

From the outside, the Rivian R1S can be considered a high-quality family SUV. You would by no means imagine that it can demolish some of the fastest supercars on the current market. Especially after seeing the off-road tires it comes equipped with. However, thanks to the quad motor powertrain, the R1S is able to produce 845 horsepower which can be accessed instantly. This leads to a 0-60 stint that only takes three seconds. Yes, you’ve read that correctly. This is a car that can tackle dirt, the school run, and even huge road trips that can also demolish a Ferrari in a drag race. Impressive stuff.

9 You Can Get a Decent Range Out Of The R1S

As you are probably aware, EV range is a big deciding factor when choosing which electric vehicle to buy. While the range in the Rivian isn’t the best, it certainly is respectable and usable. The quad motor vehicle with the Max battery is able to get roughly 330 miles out of a full battery charge. This is enough to last you for a few hours on the motorway before needing to stop for a recharge. We should mention, however, that the EV range is greatly affected by outside temperature and load. If the vehicle is fully loaded or towing range can decrease drastically. This is the case for all EVs and not just the Rivian.

The Rivian rides on air suspension, which is by no means revolutionary technology, but it certainly increases the abilities of the SUV Air suspension basically means that airbags control the ride high of the vehicle which enables the R1S to sit higher or lower. When the driver requires great on-road performance the airbags will lower the vehicle; therefore, lowering its center of gravity. For off-roading, the air suspension can jack up the car which leads to 15 inches of ground clearance. A very impressive number. Also, if you are planning on sleeping inside your Rivian while camping the air suspension can level out the cabin when parked on uneven ground to ensure you sleep comfortably.

7 The R1S Is A Three-Row Electric SUV

Three rows of seating in an electric vehicle is still something we do not see often. This is mostly because big SUVs are still transitioning to electric powertrains slowly. However, Rivian has made sure to include a third row of seats which can be very useful for larger families or for people with a lot of friends. Since the R1S is a mid-sized SUV, space back there isn’t huge, but it is certainly good enough for shorter adults or children. Cup holders are available and even a glass roof section. With the seats up, the Rivian still benefits from plenty of cargo space and even household and power outlets. So, there will still be space for bags and even charging electronic devices.

It is no secret that driving an EV is relaxing. Cabin noise is kept at a minimum, all the technology keeps you entertained and comfy and the instant power makes overtaking stress-free. The R1S is much of the same story. The cabin is minimalistic, but very comfortable with nice materials. They may not be as high quality as the ones found in a vehicle like a Range Rover, but the R1S manages to blend utility with comfort perfectly. Of course, you get heated seats, a great infotainment screen, and even a glass roof that helps light up the cabin. It really is a great interior to cover long distances in.

Similarly, to the previous section, if you are planning on using the R1S as a family vehicle, people seating in the rear won’t be disappointed. Aside from a good amount of head and legroom, they also get a touch screen with climate controls, heated seats, and plenty of USB-C ports. This ensures their electronic devices can keep them entertained throughout the journey. The second row can move backward or forwards to make more space for third-row or second-row passengers. If children or young adults are going to be the ones mostly using the second row, they certainly won’t be disappointed back there.

This means that your pet can stay inside and remain cool or warm while you get all your necessary shopping done. This certainly is a handy feature for lovers of animals!

On video and photos the R1S looks huge, but in person, you quickly realize that its size is perfect. Because it doesn’t have a bed it is considerably shorter than its brother the Rivian R1T. This makes it much more manageable when parking. Also, it gives the R1S a better departure angle which should further increase its off-road abilities. Its length in inches is 200.8. So, contrary to popular belief, it is much smaller than a full-sized SUV like a GMC Yukon or a Cadillac Escalade meaning that even city usage should be manageable.

1 The R1T Features A Clever Security System

In the beginning, we mentioned that the Rivian has features that makes life easier and the one that follows is certainly one of them. Inside the software of the vehicle, there is a security system that uses exterior cameras to capture video in case someone tries to break into your vehicle, bumps it, or scratches it. These videos can later be accessed for you to see who did the damage. To keep the whole security system friendly, Rivian engineers have given it a cartoon figure which is a very nice touch. This is certainly an addition that can prove itself useful in many situations.
